'It's A Big Step For People To Reach Out'

There’s a range of reasons why someone takes the decision to seek financial advice. Often it’s life events such as inheriting wealth, having children, changing job or preparing for retirement – but for many, it is to build or protect wealth and plan for the future.
Whatever the reasons, I never lose sight of what a big step it can be for people to reach out and look for a long-term trusted partner to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.
Personalised financial advice is most effective when a strong and long-term relationship is built. I have worked with more than half of my clients for more than ten years and this allows a deep understanding of their affairs, objectives and thinking.
A clear exchange of expectations from the outset is essential. I answer all emails, calls and texts within the same working day where possible, but I also expect my clients to come back to me within a reasonable time frame.
I deliver advice face to face but also use video technology, depending on the needs and comfort of the client. I always use clear and appropriate language and there is no bigger compliment than hearing: “You’ve made it very easy for me to understand.” While nothing makes me prouder than hearing: “Your advice has changed my life – I now have the confidence to retire.”
